This program will improve your understanding of how drugs and alcohol exert their effect, addiction processes and treatment options. It provides an understanding of biological processes at an advanced level useful to, for example, medical practitioners, nurses, psychologists, social workers, pharmacists, educators, law enforcement officers, and security officers.

The program is offered only via distance education, on a part-time basis. There is no requirement to attend classes or examinations The program is therefore ideally suited to those who wish to study while continuing their regular work commitments from Australia or abroad. We encourage a steady study pace with regular assignments and have a rich interaction on the discussion board.

Students receive online access to a complete guide to learning for each topic, journal articles, book chapters, audio and video lectures, notes and other resource materials necessary for study by distance education.
